U.S. ATTORNEY RECOGNIZES FUGITIVE APPREHENSION STRIKE TEAM

Team Has Arrested More than 10,000 Fugitives in Seven Years

U.S. Marshal Press Release

DFW FAST Participating Agencies and DOJ Initiatives

DALLAS
— Today, U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks and U.S. Marshal Randy Ely, of the Northern District of Texas, announced that the U.S. Marshals’ multi-agency fugitive task force, the Dallas - Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW FAST), has made its 10,000th arrest.

“I commend Marshal Ely, his deputies and all the members of DFW FAST on their outstanding efforts over the past seven years in locating and arresting more than 10,000 violent fugitives,” said U.S. Attorney Jacks.

“In 2004, Marshal Ely established DFW FAST by collaborating with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to combine resources and establish this multi-agency task force to rid our communities of violent offenders — and its success has been nothing short of phenomenal,” said Jacks. “It is a true team effort, with everyone on the team having a real stake in public safety. I am truly impressed with the level of cooperation and involvement of all the members of DFW FAST; it is a model of what can be achieved when federal, state and local agencies come together to share and maximize resources.”

The U.S. Marshals Service and DFW FAST are also tasked with other Department of Justice initiatives such as Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the Comprehensive Anti-Gang Initiative (CAGI) and the Public Housing Safety Initiative (PHSI). Their successes in these initiatives are also a result of their collaboration and cooperation with numerous federal, state and local agencies. See attached for more information on PSN, CAGI and PHSI.
